A pair of playmakers for Dinwiddie have picked up new offers.
Joseph Tyree and Omar Tyson have both received offers from UVA-Wise.
Tyree, a 6-1, 190 pound running back was one of many explosive offensive weapons in the General’s arsenal this past season.
Despite a season ending leg injury against Thomas Dale midway through the season, Tyree still managed to rack up some impressive numbers. On just 26 carries, Tyree rushed for 216 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught a 25 yard touchdown pass.
Defensively, Tyree was valuable as well. He made 27 tackles, caused two fumbles, and recovered a fumble.
Tyree’s versatility and overall athleticism garnered him first team all-conference 20 defensive utility honors, and 4a east all-region defensive utility honors. Coming off injury, Tyrees senior year should be exciting to watch. With impressive numbers in just five complete games, there’s no telling what a full ten game body of work will look like for Tyree.
Teammate, Omar Tyson had himself a season as well.
The 6-1, 220 pound defensive can get it done around the edge and inside as a pass rusher and run stopper.
Tyson recorded a total of 127 tackles. He managed 37 tackles for loss and sacked the quarterback 11 times. He recovered 3 fumbles and caused 3 interceptions. And to top it off he created a 70 yard score off an interception.
Tyson made plays consistently that helped a stout Dinwiddie defense all season long. His performance earned him 4a first team all-state defensive tackle honors in just his junior year.
Like Tyree, the sky’s the limit for his senior year.
Both athletes now have the opportunity to play together in Wise at UVA. Under coach Dane Damron, the Highland Cavaliers finished with a record of 6-5 last year in the Mountain East Conference. A nice option to have at Wise, both still should have a full road of recruiting ahead of them.
