L.C. Bird’s roster featured talent and every position and forward Tyrek Williams is another Skyhawks player that is starting to get more collegiate attention.
The 6-9 forward played a huge role in L.C. Bird’s state championship last season, serving as a solid rim protector and rebounder. Offensively, he took advantage and smaller opponents and used his speed and athleticism to get to the rim. Williams suffered a bit of a setback early in his career with injury, but now he’s healthy and poised to do big things at the college level.
“Tyrek has been really good since he’s returned to play,” said 16U coach Chris Herron. “He is a strong player who finishes well around the basket.”
Williams already possesses some Division I offers from schools like Longwood and Mount St. Mary’s, and is continuing to add more. He recently added Bryant University and Youngstown State University to his already impressive list.
With one more year left in his high school career, Williams will be looking to add even more schools to his list, as he tries to find the right collegiate fit. With his size and skills around the rim, he has the potential to be an impact player at the next level.
