Hopewell senior running back Ronnie Walker scored three touchdowns as Hopewell routed visiting James Monroe 48-14 in a Class 3 semifinal game at Merner Field on Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Devils improved to 10-4 on the season and advanced to the state final for the first time since 2003, when the team captured the Group AAA, Division 5 title.

Walker, who has committed to Indiana, finished with 125 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries while senior quarterback Greg Cuffey added 110 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. Briggs had 78 yards on 12 carries as Hopewell piled up 401 yards of offense.

The Blue Devils, coached by Ricky Irby, rushed for 311 yards on the day and had 401 yards of offense.

Hopewell will play Heritage-Lynchburg (13-1) for the state title on Saturday at William & Mary.
