It was only 10 days ago, that St. Christopher rising senior Henry Schroeder picked up his fifth offer.
This one coming from upstart Coastal Carolina.
The Chanticleers, who are coached by veteran Joe Moglia (7th year), play in the Big South Conference. They went 10-2 overall this past season and 7-1 in the Big South.
Coastal Carolina has two players on its current roster from the state of Virginia, including former Prep League quarterback Blake Bowen, from Trinity Episcopal.
“No offers really stand out for me now,” Schroeder said. “I’m just trying to take my time to get a feel for each school and see what they have to offer.”
Prior to the Coastal Carolina offer, he had four other offers from Buffalo, Elon, Marshall and Temple.
The 6-4, 260-pound offensive guard went to the Under Armour All-American Camp in Baltimore earlier this summer. He also plans on visiting Virginia Tech, Rutgers and Temple.
Furthermore, the All-Prep League selection has plans to go to Boston College, Purdue, Virginia and Wake Forest the rest of the summer.
Schroeder, who maintains a 2.5 GPA in the classroom, rotated between the guard and tackle position this past season but plans on improving on both the field and classroom.
This upcoming year he plans to “put a lot more focus towards school and that will be my main priority.”
“I enjoy playing on the interior, just because it’s easier to fit up on people in my opinion and drive them down the field,” Schroeder mentioned earlier this year. “I love run blocking, just because it’s fun to move a little bit in the open field.”
The Saints, under the direction of coach Lance Clelland, finished 5-4 last season.
