Benedictine forward Dimitri Georgiadis has received his first offer from VMI, though he says he is drawing interest from many other schools including Purdue, Clemson, Princeton, and Cornell.
The 6-9, 235-pound junior plays for thr Richmond Garner Road 17U Elite AAU team, as well as the Romanian National 18U Team. In his international play, he lead his team in scoring, averaging 10.1 points per game, along with 6.2 rebounds per game, which was third on his team.
Georgiadis explained how, “It was a great experience, the style of play is a lot more team oriented over there. Players don’t care about individual stats and just want their team to win.” He also added how he preferred the European style of play more than the local high school and AAU style.
As far as choosing a college, Georgiadis said, “I want to have a good relationship with the coaches and fit into the system. I also want it to be relatively close to home and I want it to be a good academic school.”
VMI meets several of these requirements, as it is nearby in Lexington and has exceptional academics, along with being a Division 1 school in athletics.
While Georgiadis has a year to pick up new offers, VMI is a great one to start with.
